What do I do if an Event registrant does not have an email address?
First, be sure they really do not have an email address. They may just be afraid of getting a lot of emails.
- Explain that it is needed for logging into the system.
- Each person must use a unique email address.
- Strongly encourage users to use a valid email.
- Explain that without it they won't receive confirmation when they register for an event, notification if an event they registered for cancels or otherwise changes, etc.
If they insist that they do not have one or won't provide one:
- Do Not make one up a random one for them. Having invalid emails can cause you and us problems; IntelLinx and your bar could end up black listed, and unable to send email, by organizations that are spam watchdogs. It would then take a while to get removed from the list.
- If you must give them an invalid email, always use BarItodID@noitodmail.com for example SCBA121234@noitodmail.com
- Always make sure you have the person checked No for email.
